9/11 Cancer Fund and Important Deadlines in the Past and Future
Many of those exposed to toxic dust and fumes in the aftermath of the 9/11 World Trade Center disaster, who have also suffered from certain cancers and other medical conditions, can still register with the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, also known as the 911 Cancer Fund.
911 Cancer Fund Deadlines
October 12, 2014 was the deadline to register with the 911 Cancer Fund for individuals diagnosed with cancer on or before October 12, 2012. However, it’s not too late for some individuals who have been diagnosed with certain cancers and other conditions to register with the 911 Cancer Fund, depending on their date of diagnosis. If an individual was diagnosed with a covered cancer after October 12, 2012, they have two years from the date of their diagnosis to register with the 911 Cancer Fund for compensation. If someone is diagnosed with any of the covered medical conditions, such as World Trade Center-exacerbated COPD, they also have two years from the date of diagnosis if they were diagnosed after October 3, 2011. The breakdown of registration deadlines can be found here.
According to the World Trade Center Health Program, almost 3,000 people have been diagnosed with cancer, including firefighters, 9/11 first responders, office workers and residents of Lower Manhattan. Many have only recently been diagnosed with cancer, some even have multiple cancers, including bladder cancer, thyroid cancer and breast cancer—all of these cancers are covered under the 911 Cancer Fund.
911 Cancer Fund Money Still Available
The 911 Cancer Fund still has approximately $2.8 billion in funds available to compensate those who have suffered from cancer due to their exposure to multitudes of toxins on 9/11 and the weeks and months that followed.

“Care and Understanding” from Borri Law
"I contacted Gregg Borri with regards to my WTC health issues. He was very professional and approachable. He showed a lot of care and understanding and was very efficient in his work and always ready to patiently explain any concern that I might have had. To me this was a very sensitive process but Mr Borri’s approach was outstanding and most of all I felt comfortable having him championing my case.”— Leroy C. – Linden, NJ
