9/11 Prostate Cancer Victims Entitled To Compensation
9/11 Prostate Cancer Victims Entitled Up To $250,000 for Pain & Suffering
Prostate cancer was added to the list of cancers eligible for compensation because studies conclueded exposure to 9/11 dust and fumes increased the risk of prostate cancer. One study of 9/11 first responders revealed they had a 17% greater than expected rate of prostate cancer.
The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund now pays up to $250,000 for pain and suffering to eligible prostate cancer victim. Additional compensation is payable if the prostate cancer disables a victim from working or results in a death.
The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, and its companion program the World Trade Center Health Program, will operate and pay compensation for the next 70 years, until 2092. The programs are available for prostate cancer victims diagnosed in the past or in the future (until the year 2090).
Prostate Cancer Very Frequent Among Responders and Survivors
As of December 31, 2021, 3,596 responders (i.e., first responders, participating NYC workers, military personell and volunteers) and 2,197 survivors (i.e., downtown office and service workers, residents and others) have been certified with 9/11-related prostate cancer. Prostate cancer afflicts more responders and survivors than any other cancer except non-melanoma skin cancer.
